Government by The People Association (JWEggert) OPINION/COMMENT:
Prior to the 1913 sixteenth amendment (to support WW1??) we funded our Government using taxes from only TARIFFS, "SIN" taxes for Tobacco and Alcohol (and they say we shouldn't mix Government and Religion) and Business Taxes who were actually paying the majority of our funding prior to 1913.
TARIFFS protect domestic industries by making imported goods more expensive. Encourage consumers to buy American-made products, boosting local businesses. Generate government revenue through tariff collections. Support job creation in protected industries by reducing foreign competition. Promote fair trade practices by addressing trade imbalances.
Lastly they stimulate innovation as domestic companies compete to improve their products.
What about now? During the past 113 YEARS our Government has IMPOSED taxes on our PERSONAL Income, Business Income, Alcohol and Tobacco AND they (we?) added Gas and Road Taxes. Its high time time for change and President Trump attempts to lead the way to influencing a very elusive, cumbersome and somewhat spendthrift Legislatiive Branch who needs to be reminded who they work for NOW!!!!!!
